Today is World Diabetes Day. Please check out this interesting article in the Journal of Diabetes, Metabolic Disorders & Control on the right to health and the right to food in relation to diabetes. This article published in 2017 discusses what are the most influential factors for achieving these rights for type 2 diabetic patients and pays attention to the social determinants of health, one of the elements of the right to health.
Another recent article on diabetes as a human rights issue focuses on access to insulin. This article in the journal Intersect addresses the growing problem of global insulin inaccessibilty. It considers the importance of this accessibility in upholding two rights codified in international human rights law instruments: the right to health and the right to the benefits of scientific progress.
